Lincoln: Christmas lights switch-on 2023 details announced
City of Lincoln CouncilChristmas shoppers will be greeted by a 52ft (16m) illuminated comet in Lincoln's City Square this year.
City of Lincoln Council said it had spent £140,000 on new lighting ahead of the switch-on at 19:00 GMT on 23 November.
Mayor Biff Bean said: "The city has some fantastic, brand new lights this year and I'm thrilled to be officially switching them on.
"The switch-on really does kickstart the festivities in the city."
Organisers said Newport Arch, down to St Mark's Street, would be lit up with "a dazzling fairy light display" within Exchequergate Arch and a giant comet in nearby City Square.
Dignitaries will join celebrity guests, including Olympic gold medallist and Strictly Come Dancing champion Louis Smith MBE and Strictly professional Ian Waite, in turning on the High Street lights.
Joining them on stage will be West End star Roger Wright, who is playing Genie of the Lamp in this year's Aladdin pantomime at New Theatre Royal.
