Plans for Barton-Upon-Humber link road submitted

A planning application has been submitted to build the first phase of the Barton-upon-Humber link road.

The road would connect Barrow Road, the A1077, and Caistor Road and is funded through a £20m levelling up grant awarded to the area in 2023.

As well as funding the link road, the cash has already seen improvements to the town's passenger interchange.

North Lincolnshire Council has not set a date to consider the planning application.

Council leader Rob Waltham said the plans had followed widespread consultation with residents.

"As with all major developments having the proper infrastructure in place as a community continues to grow is absolutely essential and we're confident that is what this link road delivers - taking HGV traffic out of the town centre and making it more convenient for residents to get around, while considering our impact on the environment," he said.

He added there would also be junction improvements, and a cycle path and pedestrian footway added to the scheme.
