A horse has been rescued after it became stranded in a partly empty swimming pool.

The animal fell into the pool in Sherborne Hill, Sherborne, Dorset on Friday shortly after 21:20 GMT.

Firefighters, a rescue team and a vet freed the horse from the pool, which had about 10ins (25cm) of water in it, after about two hours.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said the 28-year-old horse was left in the care of the vet.
