Firefighters rescued a dog from an 80ft (25m) deep mineshaft in east Cornwall on Thursday.

A specialist crew member was lowered down the shaft on ropes to reach Daisy who had fallen down while out on a walk in Harrowbarrow.

After the successful rescue, Callington Fire Station said Daisy was "a very lucky pup".

She suffered an injured paw but was safely returned to her owners.

A fire crew from Callington responded, along with one from Bodmin and the station's specialist line rescue unit.

On arrival, firefighters set up an anchor point to allow a crew member in a harness to safely assess the situation.

The mineshaft measured 10m by 15m (30ft by 50ft) and Daisy was at the bottom.

After the rescue, a spokesperson for Callington Fire Station said that Daisy was "back in the warm with her loved ones".
