Van driver seriously injured in A-road collision

A van driver was seriously injured in a collision which closed a busy A-road.

The emergency services were called to the A14's eastbound carriageway, between the junction for the M1 and junction one near Welford, at about 09:00 BST on Wednesday.

The crash involved a Mercedes Sprinter van and a Scania HGV.

Northamptonshire Police said the van driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The A14 eastbound was reopened at about 16:30.

Officers appealed for anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.
