Warehouse could be new offices for dog charity

A vacant warehouse has been earmarked as the new head office for a Sheffield-based dog charity.

Support Dogs works to provide assistance dogs for people with medical conditions that can limit their independence.

The organisation has submitted plans to Sheffield City Council to convert Elsworth House on Herries Road South into offices.

The modern, detached industrial unit has car parking at the site.

The charity was founded in Sheffield in 1992 and its current base is in Carbrook.

It said it eventually wanted to buy the building to provide additional space for staff, storage and retail areas, and training zones for dogs.

Support Dogs added that it wanted to increase the number of dogs it trained each year from 20 to 50.

A decision on their application will be made by 3 September.
