A family has paid tribute to a 43-year-old man who died after a crash involving two cars and a lorry.

Northamptonshire Police were called to reports of a collision on the A45 Flore Bypass in Daventry at 15:50 GMT on 12 February.

Stuart Townsend died at the scene of the crash involving his black Honda Civic, a blue Toyota CH-R and a maroon DAF truck.

The father-of-five from Daventry was described as "the life and soul of the party" in a statement by his children.

"He was a typical dad who was always there to share his love, guidance and to celebrate the milestones in our lives", they said in the statement released by Northamptonshire Police.

It continued: "We still cannot believe that he has gone. No child should have to experience this kind of loss, especially so suddenly, and we are all trying to process our grief while supporting each other.

"Dad's death has left us all in shock and utterly heartbroken."

Northamptonshire Police said investigations into the collision were continuing and detectives would still like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed it, or who may have relevant dash-cam footage and are yet to come forward.
