Drug dealers jailed after heroin and cocaine found

Two drug dealers who were found with heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine as well as thousands of pounds in cash have been jailed.

Mohammed Sajid and Abidul Islam, both 26, were both charged after police discovered drugs and mobile phones stashed in their car during a search in June 2024 and later found further drugs at Islam's home.

Islam, of Shortbrook Road, Sheffield, admitted conspiracy to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property and was sentenced to five years and eight months at Sheffield Crown Court.

Sajid, of Wolseley Road, Sheffield, was found guilty of conspiracy to supply class A drugs after a trial at the same court and was sentenced to five years and 10 months in prison.

South Yorkshire Police said officers had stopped the car the two men were travelling in Crookesmoor Road on 11 June 2024

The force when officers approached Sajid appeared to be hiding something and police later found heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine under his seat, as well as three mobile phones.

Officers then searched Islam, who was the driver, and found a quantity of cash and a mobile phone, and the two men were arrested.

Islam's home address was searched and several items were recovered including a brown substance wrapped in tin foil, a knife, a mobile phone and a bundle of cash which was believed to be about £5,000 in total.

One of the mobile phones recovered was analysed and confirmed to have been operating a Class A drug line between February and June 2024, and the drugs recovered had an estimated street value of up to £29,000.

Speaking after the sentencing on 4 February, PC Katie Halliburton said: "Both Islam and Sajid were operating a highly sophisticated drugs line and thought they could get away with their crimes.

"We have no tolerance for illegal drugs, and we are fully committed to tackling the ongoing issue of drug supply within our communities."
