Woman seriously injured in town centre crash

A woman has been airlifted to hospital after sustaining serious injuries during a crash in a Devon town centre.

Devon and Cornwall Police said it was called to reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Bampton Street, Tiverton, at about 13:10 GMT on Wednesday.

The force said emergency services attended the scene and local road closures were in place.

A police spokesperson added the incident was ongoing.
