Pool remains closed despite completed pipe repairs
IOM goVRepairs to a cracked water pipe in the Isle of Man's main swimming pool have been completed but the facility remains closed until water testing has been carried out, bosses at the National Sports Centre have said.
The training pool closed at the Douglas facility in mid-December after damage to the pipe was discovered in its water circulation systems.
Centre bosses said while repairs had been carried out, the facility was awaiting water quality results and the pool would stay closed until Monday, with a further update to be issued then.
A number of Monday's swimming sessions in the main pool had been cancelled, they said, but the leisure pool would remain open over the weekend.
The jacuzzi in the spa suite has also been closed until the end of January "due to required maintenance", however the sauna and steam room remained available, the government has previously said.
The facility has seen a number of issues recently, including restrictions to two lanes of the training pool due to damaged tiles, and long delays to the reopening of the waterslides.
