Watchdog inquiry after man injured at bacon factory

Emergency services attended the factory in Norton on Wednesday

A watchdog is investigating a workplace accident that left a man injured at a bacon factory in North Yorkshire.

An air ambulance and other emergency services attended the Sofina factory on Westfield Way in the Norton area of Malton at about 08:30 GMT on Wednesday.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed a man was taken to hospital by ambulance. It is understood he has since been discharged after treatment, with no information released about how he was injured.

The Health and Safety Executive said it was currently making inquiries to understand what happened alongside North Yorkshire Police.

Sofina Foods has been contacted for comment.
