Emergency services were called to the Sofina factory in Westfield Way, Norton

A man has been taken to hospital after reports of a workplace accident at a bacon factory, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the Sofina factory on Westfield Way in the Norton area of Malton at about 08:30 GMT.

North Yorkshire Police officers attended, along with fire, ambulance and air ambulance crews.

A force spokesperson confirmed the Health and Safety Executive had been notified of the incident.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "A number of ambulance resources were dispatched to the scene, including two ambulances and the air ambulance.

"One patient was conveyed by road to hospital."

Sofina Foods has been contacted for comment.
