Man drives into river while fleeing from police
GMPA man who tried to escape police during a chase ended up driving into a river, a force has said.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the motorist "went off road" as he tried to evade capture in the early hours of Saturday morning in Bury town centre.
But he drove his car down an embankment and into the river Roch, the force added.
He was arrested on suspicion of two counts of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and driving without insurance and a licence. GMP said he had allegedly been involved in an earlier incident in Bolton.
