Man arrested after midnight stabbing

A 22-year-old man has been arrested after a stabbing incident left another man in his 20s with serious injuries.

At about midnight, Thames Valley Police officers were called to Northfield Close in Littlemore, Oxford, near the junction with Alice Smith Square.

It said the victim was currently in hospital, in a non-life-threatening condition.

The force said the suspect, from Oxford, and a 21-year-old woman, also from Oxford, who it suspects of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, remain in custody.

Det Con James Gerard said officers remained in the area for "thorough enquiries" and that residents might see "increased police presence" during the checks.

"Please be assured there is no wider risk to the public, and the scene will be stood down later today."

He appealed for any witnesses to the incident to contact TVP.
