A pedestrian in his 20s has died after a car crash in Farnham, Surrey, according to police.

The man died in hospital hours after the crash, Surrey Police said, which happened at the traffic lights where South Street and Station Hill meet the Farnham Bypass.

Officers said they were called at 01:10 GMT on New Year's Day to "reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian".

The roads were closed to "assist the investigation" into the crash but have since reopened, the force said.

Police asked people at the crossroads around the time of the crash on Thursday or anybody with footage of the incident to contact them.
