Free tickets for schools for new stadium's anniversary
HandoutGuernsey's new football stadium is set to host a weekend celebration to mark its first birthday in March, with free match tickets being offered to schools.
Guernsey FC's men's team will kick off the party at Victoria Park when when they take on Peacehaven & Telscombe FC on Saturday 28 March.
Half the profits from the match's 50/50 draw will be donated to Victoria Park's charity partner, Guernsey Alzheimer's Association.
Young football fans will also have to the chance to walk out with the Green Lions as a Victoria Park mascot if they win an online competition.
On Sunday 29 March, Victoria Park is set to host a Girls' Community Football Festival in the morning, followed in the afternoon by a Victoria Park 3v3 Football Tournament for Year 3 and 4 players.
Nick Graham, Victoria Park Steering Committee chair, said: "It's incredible to think of how much we've achieved in the space of a year - our expectations have been well and truly exceeded."
He added: "Victoria Park has quickly become a place for the whole community and we felt it only fitting to organise a weekend that brought everyone together, from our Green Lions and their loyal fans to the grassroots players of tomorrow."
