Free weekend parking to boost Christmas trade
East Riding of Yorkshire CouncilShoppers in East Yorkshire will be able to park for free on weekends in the run-up to Christmas.
Parking charges will be suspended at East Riding of Yorkshire Council car parks across four weekends from 29 and 30 November to 20 and 21 December between 08:00 on Saturday to 08:00 GMT on Monday.
Motorists will also be able to park free of charge on Sunday to support Remembrance Sunday events, the authority added.
Council leader Anne Handley said: "Free weekend parking is a great incentive to shop locally and we encourage residents to support their local high street."
The second weekend of free parking coincides with Small Business Saturday, a national campaign that encourages people to support small local businesses.
Notices will be displayed in all locations to remind motorists there is no charge.
