The owner of a former seaside restaurant has said they will no longer try to reopen as self-catered accommodation.

The Nude Dunes restaurant at La Pulente was open for a few months before it closed unexpectedly in November 2023.

Initial plans to turn it into self-catered holiday accommodation were rejected in 2024 and revised plans were unanimously rejected earlier in 2025 due to concerns about the potential impact on the landscape.

It has now been reclassified as a site for commercial use, which means future purposes could include being used as a shop, offices or a medical practice.

A statement said the owner was "disappointed" the building could no longer provide "public leisure access" in the form of a cafe or restaurant.

"It was an outcome made impossible by the opposition that prevented the necessary planning approvals being secured," it said.

"They have focused on ensuring that the site can be brought back into appropriate, commercially viable, and sustainable use."

It said the former restaurant now offered "modern, adaptable, commercial accommodation across two floors".
