An 18-year-old man and a boy, aged 17, have been arrested following a stabbing at a bonfire on Saturday.

The pair are being held on suspicion of attempted murder and remained in custody, West Mercia Police said.

They were detained after a 20-year-old man was stabbed on Wellington Road, Donnington, Telford, before being taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment.

The force said the attack took place at about 20:30 GMT, about 30 minutes after the bonfire was lit and have appealed for witnesses.

The bonfire and fireworks display, which was held on the adjacent playing fields, had been celebrating its 40th anniversary.
