Aurigny said unforeseen pilot absence at Skybus is the "sole cause of the disruption"

A number of upcoming flights have been disrupted or cancelled due to pilot absences, Aurigny has confirmed.

Some services between Alderney and Guernsey, as well as between Alderney and Southampton, will be disrupted and cancelled between 21 and 26 March.

It said the decision to cancel the services has been taken now to ensure that alternative arrangements can be made for all affected passengers.

Aurigny continued that unforeseen pilot absence at Skybus, the airline operating services to and from Alderney under contract to Aurigny, is the "sole cause of the disruption."

Jonathan Hinkles, managing director at Skybus, added: "On behalf of the Skybus team, I would like to apologise unreservedly for the inconvenience caused to the community in Alderney.

"We care deeply about this mission and understand the importance of delivering vital lifeline services to island communities - and we recognise this falls short of what is expected.

"We took immediate steps to advise Aurigny as quickly as possible of our operational capabilities at this time – and to ensure they can support customers with the best alternatives possible."

Aurigny said there is no need for any passengers to contact the airline proactively.
