University College Jersey launches master's degree

University College Jersey (UCJ) has announced the launch of its first-ever master's degree.

The two-year postgraduate Master of Research (MRes) in Island Studies, starts in September in partnership with the University of Plymouth.

UCJ said students would "examine the cultural, economic, environmental, and historical uniqueness of islands".

The course was tailored for working professionals and combined academic study with research on island life, making students "well-positioned for leadership roles requiring research-led decision-making", UCJ added.

Kate Hobbs, vice-principal for curriculum at Highlands College and acting head of UCJ, called the launch "a significant milestone" for the institution.

The qualification "reflects our commitment to academic excellence and research-led learning", she said.

"The MRes is a strategic investment in the island's future."
