Music promoter Mike Lloyd OBE dies
BBCA Stoke-on-Trent music promoter, concert organiser and record shop owner has died, the business he founded has announced.
Mike Lloyd, 82, ran Music Mania, with the company saying he passed away unexpectedly while travelling home from the US.
He was awarded an OBE in 2022 for his services to classical music and his role as chief executive of Stoke-on-Trent Classics, which organises orchestral concerts.
The team at the shop in Hanley told BBC Radio Stoke it was a really sad day for everybody who knew him.

In a tribute to Mr Lloyd on the Music Mania website, the firm said: "Mike was not only a treasured father and friend, but also a highly respected figure within the Stoke-on-Trent community.
"His passion, humour, and unwavering dedication helped shape the very heart of this business."
In 2023 Mr Lloyd, who was born in Walsall, was made an honorary doctor of arts by what was then Staffordshire University, for his contributions in the field of music, culture and entertainment.
Mr Lloyd went on to be made an honorary freeman of Stoke-on-Trent in 2025, by the city council, for "an exceptional commitment to enriching the cultural and musical landscape of Stoke-on-Trent."
He was instrumental in bringing the Lemmy Kilmister statue to Burslem, and one of the people behind the plans to transform the town's vacant Queen's Theatre in into a concert venue in memory of Lemmy, renaming it Kilmister Halls.
