Animal lovers will have the opportunity to show off their beloved canines as part of a fun dog show in Guernsey later.

The GSPCA's Seafront Sunday will kick off from 10:00 BST and pet owners will have until 11:00 to register their perfect pups in categories such as "best rescue", "waggiest bum" and "dog most like their owner".

The event along the seafront in St Peter Port will also include arts and crafts stalls, children's games and a fancy dress competition.

The charity, which cares for animals in the island, is also taking part in the Charities Seafront Sunday on 17 May, which will include charity stalls, live music and another fun dog show.

Steve Byrne, from the GSPCA, said they were grateful to everyone supporting the two days.

"We are very much looking forward to welcoming all at the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday this weekend with our biggest fun dog show of the year and also on the 17 May - the first ever Charities Seafront Sunday where already we have more than 30 charities attending," he said.

The seafront will be closed to traffic from 07:00 until 18:00 on both Sundays with the main events running from 10:00 to 16:00.
