Pedestrian hit by car was 'much-loved' mum
SuppliedThe family of a "much-loved" woman who died in a collision have said they are "heartbroken".
Pedestrian Catherine Sams, 74, died after she was hit by a car on Lamplugh Road in Cockermouth, just before 21:10 GMT on Saturday.
The 74-year-old, from Cockermouth, was described by her family as "hugely important", and they were "struggling to process such a sudden and traumatic loss".
Cumbria Police said the crash involved a white Volvo and said the driver, a man in his 30s, was assisting officers with their investigations.
In a statement, released through police, her family said: "Mum was a hugely important and much-loved member of our family.
"She will be sorely missed by friends and family alike, we are heartbroken."
The force urged anyone who was in the area around the time to come forward.
