Post Office to close after staff resignation
PA MediaThe Post Office has apologised for the short notice after it announced one of its branches would close at the end of the month.
A spokesperson said it had made the "difficult decision" to shut the Elmswell Post Office, in the Suffolk village near Bury St Edmunds, after a staff member handed in their resignation.
The branch is due to shut on 28 January.
"Providing Post Office services on a temporary basis is not a sustainable long-term solution," said a spokesperson.
"Following a review, we have made the difficult decision not to replace the Elmswell service with another temporary arrangement.
"We apologise to customers for the short notice and for any inconvenience caused to customers."
The branch is open on Mondays, but only open until 13:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It is closed the remainder of the week.
Alternative branches in the area include Woolpit, a village about two miles away, and in Haughley near Stowmarket.
