Work to start on £200k road improvement scheme

Work to resurface and upgrade a section of road in East Yorkshire will start later.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council said it was investing £200,000 to improve Bydales Lane in Winestead, between the junction of Cross Lane and the railway crossing.

The work, which will be carried out during the day, is expected to take up to three weeks to complete.

It includes resurfacing the existing road, structural patching, and upgrades to the existing passing areas, the council said.

A triangular island at the Cross Lane junction will also be removed to change the road layout and improve traffic flow, a spokesperson added.

The council said the road would be closed to through traffic with a signed diversion in place. Access to properties would be maintained at all times.

Ahead of the project, Councillor Paul West, cabinet member for environment and transport, thanked residents, businesses and drivers for their "patience and understanding".
