A man has been jailed for 15 years for a series of rapes and assaults in Aberdeen.

Stephen White, 50, was previously found guilty of multiple offences spanning several years after a six-day trial.

At the High Court in Aberdeen, Judge Summers described his crimes as a "horrific catalogue of offending".

White will also be placed under supervision for three years after his release.

Sentencing White, Judge Summers said that the offending involved the rape of three women.

"These offences are deeply troubling," the judge said.

"They are eloquent of a pattern of physical and sexual violence.

"It is clear, given the nature and gravity of these offences, that the only appropriate disposal is the imposition of a lengthy custodial sentence."

Det Insp Gordon Patullo described White's actions as "abhorrent" and added he was now facing the consequences of his actions.

The officer added: "I want to thank the victims who assisted our investigation.

"Their support was vital in bringing him to justice.

"While nothing can change what they have experienced, I hope this outcome brings them a degree of closure."
