A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 37-year-old man died following an incident outside a pub in south Wales.

Gwent Police said the victim, from Tredegar, had been in a life-threatening condition in hospital after reports of an assault in Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent, on Friday night.

Officers were called to The Picture House in Bethcar Street between 23:30 GMT on Friday and 00:15 on Saturday.

The 30-year-old suspect from Cardiff was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has now been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody.

Police said their investigation was ongoing and appealed for more information.
