A trial date has been set for a 39-year-old man charged with the murder of his 68-year-old mother who was found stabbed in her cottage.

Daniel Livie, 39, of Winstreet Close, Alton, is accused of murdering Gilly Livie as well as threatening to kill a man on 8 January.

Ms Livie, 68, who worked as a housekeeper, was discovered injured in the village of Cheriton, Hampshire, on 9 January and died at the scene from a stab wound to the neck, police previously said.

Judge Angela Morris set the trial at Winchester Crown Court for 29 June with a plea and trial preparation hearing on 5 May.
