A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his mother who was found stabbed at her thatched cottage home.

Gilly Livie, 68, was discovered injured in the village of Cheriton, Hampshire, on 9 January and died at the scene from a stab wound to the neck, police previously said.

Daniel Livie, 39, of Winstreet Close, Alton, was charged with murder as well as with threatening to kill a man on 8 January.

He was remanded in custody by Portsmouth magistrates to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Friday.
