New multi-storey car park planned for Derby
BBCA new multi-storey car park is to be built near the centre of Derby, according to the city council's leader.
Speaking on BBC Radio Derby, Nadine Peatfield said the city's parking strategy will include plans for a new facility near the Vaillant Live performance venue.
She said the authority "will be building a multi-storey car park" and "replacing Chapel Street [multi-storey] because that's on its last legs".
Councillor Peatfield said the council was waiting to publish its strategic parking plan but is "looking at Abbey Street" as a location for the new car park.

There is currently a 190-space car park on Abbey Street, which is a short walk from the Vaillant Live venue.
Councillor Peatfield said work on the strategic parking plan had shown Derby had enough spaces available but the need for a new car park was about location.
"People who have been talking about, 'where's the parking for Vaillant?', obviously that will sort that out," she added.

The council leader also said temporary spaces may be created while the wider parking strategy was "sorted out" but she had "no idea" how long it would take to build a multi-storey car park.
The Chapel Street car park the council plans to replace has 524 spaces and is to the north of the city centre.
In a later statement, Peatfield said: "We are not seeking to increase the number of spaces, but to consolidate the parking locations that we have to best serve the city centre."
