A monthly farmers' market is set to launch at Derby's Market Hall.

Derby City Council said the markets would highlight growers, producers, and independent food traders from across the city and surrounding areas.

The events are being organised in collaboration with heritage centre Derby Uncovered, the authority added.

The first farmers' market is due to take place on 25 January.

The events will "reintroduce traditional market elements" to the refurbished venue

The council added the events would host fresh seasonal produce, artisanal foods, and "flavours that highlight the rich agricultural heritage of the region".

Council leader Nadine Peatfield said: "We are thrilled to bring the very best of our local produce to the heart of the city.

"This collaboration with Derby Uncovered provides a modern twist on the heritage of our Victorian Market Hall, honouring its rich history by reintroducing the traditional market elements that the community loves.

"Part of our ethos has always been to champion the amazing independent traders who make our region unique, and this new monthly farmers' market continues to build on that commitment - bringing our historic space up to date for a modern audience."
