School to take handmade banner to Euros final

A school will be taking its homemade banner to help cheer on England at the Euro 2024 final against Spain on Sunday.

Pupils from SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary Academy in Wolverhampton spent a whole day creating the "good luck" sign featuring flags and other logos.

The work caught the attention of Prince William and players Ollie Watkins and Harry Kane last month when they visited the team's HQ at St George's Park in Burton-upon-Trent as part of England's send-off.

The school's vice principal Jamie Morgan said he could not wait to bring the banner with him to the final in Berlin, sending video updates of his efforts to all the children.

"The pupils are delighted, they're going to love this," said principal Jenny Byrne.

As the big day approaches, the children have requested a football-themed school day, uniting their support with their teacher's journey abroad.

"Everybody is really excited here, pupils have asked to wear football kits or red and white," Ms Byrne said.
