Teens charged with attempted murder over stabbing

Two teenagers have been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in Leicester.

Leicestershire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service were called to reports of an attack in Granby Street just after 13:00 GMT on Thursday which left the 19-year-old victim needing hospital treatement.

The first suspect, who is aged 16, was arrested on Friday but officers confirmed a second 16-year-old was arrested on Saturday and both have also now been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

The teenagers, who cannot be named due to their ages, will both appear at Leicester Youth Court on Monday.

A third 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody.

Officers renewed an appeal for anyone with relevant information, including mobile phone, CCTV or dashcam footage, to get in touch.
