Medway Council says the provision is in addition to the support it offers all year round

Emergency accommodation is being provided for people sleeping rough in Medway during the cold weather.

Medway Council says it is running its "severe weather emergency protocol" until Wednesday

"Our housing team and partner agencies in the homelessness forum are helping to spread the message to as many people sleeping rough as possible to get them off of the streets and into the warm," the council says.

People sleeping rough have been urged to access the emergency provision through the council's out-of-hours homelessness service on 01634 304400.

The council says the emergency provision is in addition to the support and housing options it offers to people sleeping rough in the area all year round.

Anyone who is aware of someone sleeping rough in Medway is asked to report it to the council so it can offer support.
