Parking restrictions near hospital could remain
BBCTemporary parking restrictions introduced near a Shropshire hospital could become permanent.
Restrictions on Somerby Drive near Royal Shrewsbury Hospital were introduced last October to stop staff, patients, visitors and contractors parking on the road amid safety concerns.
Public consultation is now under way on whether to make the restrictions not only permanent but extend them to nearby roads that have since seen increased parking.
The roads being considered are Carlton Close, Cavendish Close, Florence Close, Haresfield and The Furlongs.
Residents and stakeholders have until 31 March to share their views with Shropshire Council before a final decision is made.
Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust previously said it was encouraging the use of designated parking options for the hospital, including additional parking at the front of the site for contractors and the Oxon park and ride service, which is free for staff and £1 for the public.
It added that it was exploring additional off-site parking at land off Mytton Oak Road.
