Woman, 87, killed and three seriously hurt in crash
GoogleA woman has died in a two-car crash in West Lothian.
The 87-year-old passenger of a silver Volkswagen T-Roc was pronounced dead at the scene on the A706 near Carriber Mill at about 18:55 on Friday.
A 64-year-old man who was driving the Volkswagen, a 63-year-old female passenger and a 21-year-old man driving a red Honda Civic were all taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police launched an appeal for witnesses and said they were particularly keen to speak to the driver of a Range Rover who was driving along the road at the time of the crash.
Officers closed the road for about eight hours while an initial investigation was carried out before reopening at about 02:00 on Saturday.
Sgt Barry Sommerville said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the woman who died at this extremely difficult time, and our inquiries into the crash are ongoing."
