Appeal after woman, 78, found seriously injured

Police investigating how a 78-year-old woman found in the street had suffered significant head injuries are appealing to the public for help.

The woman was discovered in James Green Road, Coventry, at about 16:30 GMT on Tuesday.

She was later taken to hospital, where her injuries are believed to be life-threatening, said West Midlands Police.

Officers were in the early stages of working to establish exactly what happened and anyone who was in the area or had dashcam footage was urged to call 101, the force said.
