Aardman lanterns to 'come alive' at light festival
Lloyd Winters/ Longleat"Beloved characters" from Wallace and Gromit are being transformed into sculptures for an annual Light festival at a stately home.
Longleat's Festival of Light will see characters from Aardman's animations "come to life" on an illuminated lantern trail that will take visitors on a tour of remodelled UK landmarks such as Stonehenge, Buckingham Palace and a 15m tall Tower Bridge.
The event at the Wiltshire estate will also include its regular attractions such as the Santa Train and the singing Christmas Tree.
Scott Ashman, head of operations at Longleat said it was "fascinating" seeing the "classic Aardman stories" mixed with British landmarks.
Dave Pratt/ LongleatThe lanterns are made out of 150 tonnes of metal and 164,000ft (50,000m) of light strips.
Characters from Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Feathers McGraw will also be showcased in scenes along the 2.5km (1.5 mile) trail from their own worlds including Mossy Bottom Farm and West Wallaby Street.
"We can't wait for guests to enjoy these incredible scenes," added Mr Ashman.
"Preparation for The Festival of Light 2025 is well under way, and it's been fantastic to see these characters brought to life."
Lloyd Winters/ LongleatAardman creative director Merlin Crossingham said he can not wait to see how the characters will "come to life in lantern form for the very first time".
"Following an incredible year for Aardman - with the much-anticipated return of Wallace, Gromit and Feathers McGraw in Vengeance Most Fowl - we're thrilled to be bringing many of our beloved characters together in an exciting new way," he said.
The event is ticketed and will run from 8 November to 11 January.
