Runway repairs carried out at Alderney Airport

An airport's asphalt runway and taxiway has been refurbished as part of a £460,000 project.

The week-long patching work at Alderney Airport has seen aerodrome pavement specialists carry out the repairs each evening.

Priority areas were earmarked during an assessment and the work, which started on 7 October, involved cutting out "failed asphalt sections" of the runway and taxiway and reinstating them using specialist materials, according to airport authorities.

Guernsey Ports, which operates the airport, was drawing up designs for an "extensive rehabilitation" to the asphalt runway, taxiway and apron.

Longer term proposals for the airport were due to be presented by the Policy and Resources Committee to the States of Deliberation.
