Teen murder charge over stabbing outside mosque
HandoutA 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a teenager was fatally stabbed outside a mosque.
Zeeshan Afzal, 18, was discovered with serious injuries on Oldbury Road in Smethwick, in the West Midlands, following disorder on Friday evening. He died shortly afterwards.
The defendant, who can not be named for legal reasons due to his age, is expected to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
In a charity fundraiser started in his memory, Zeeshan was described as being known for his "kindness, generosity, and laughter touched everyone who knew him".
"To lose him during Ramadan has been an indescribable pain," it read.
West Midlands Police said inquires were continuing and urged anyone with information to come forward.
