Island hosts photography show for first time

Alderney is hosting the Bailiwick Wildlife Photography Exhibition for the first time.

It features 59 photographs and 15 short films taken in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

In the exhibition, images from local wildlife photographers are shown alongside macro shots of insects by photographer Barry Wells.

The exhibition opened at 27 Victoria Street on Saturday and will end on Sunday 12 May.

The Alderney Bird Observatory brought the exhibition to Alderney after it closed on Sark towards the end of April.

Warden John Horton said: "The exhibition is a fabulous vehicle for awareness and appreciation of the natural world around us."

In total, 63 entrants submitted about 200 images, Guernsey Arts said.

The arts organisation has encouraged wildlife photographers from both Alderney and Sark to enter next year's show.
