Police are searching for a getaway vehicle used after an assault that left two men seriously injured.

One man was stabbed and another had an "unknown substance" thrown into his eyes as they got into a taxi in Parker Terrace, Ferryhill, at about 10:30 GMT on Wednesday, Durham Police said.

The suspects then fled in a black Volvo saloon car which drove off in the direction of Dean Bank.

Officers are appealing to anyone who saw the car or has CCTV or dashcam footage to contact the force.
