Police 'crack' case of road-crossing chicken
North Yorkshire PoliceA road-crossing chicken has been reunited with its owner after police said they had "cracked" the case.
The bird was handed in at the aptly named Eggborough Police Station on Saturday evening after it was "found playing chicken" in the road on Green Acres, a street in the village near Selby.
Posting on its Selby district Facebook page, North Yorkshire Police said: "A bit of an odd request, has anyone lost a chicken!!!"
In a later update, officers said the chicken's owner had come forward, meaning the bird was "released on bail (of straw)".
"Officers report their latest guest was 'no trouble at all' - though it did demand free-range rights and extra corn," they added.
