Lorry driver dies after vehicle leaves road
PA MediaA lorry driver has died in a crash near Selby after his vehicle came off the road.
North Yorkshire Police said the man's white Scania HGV left the road at Drax at about 02:00 GMT before coming to rest in a field.
The driver, who was in his sixties and from the Humberside area, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of emergency workers and members of the public, the force said.
The road remained closed until about 13:00 for investigative work and recovery of the vehicle, a police spokesperson said.
The force has appealed for any witnesses or anyone with footage of the collision or the vehicle before the incident to come forward.
