Motorists have been warned of possible snow overnight in the Peak District.

Derbyshire County Council said some of the highest roads in the county, including the Cat and Fiddle, Snake Pass and Axe Edge could see up to 5cm of snow on Tuesday.

The council said a team will monitor conditions "carefully" on Monday evening and grit all primary and secondary routes, adding officers will also be out on patrol into the early hours of Tuesday.

Drivers have been advised to check conditions of roads usually affected by snow before travelling and to drive safely.

Earlier this month, the council closed a number of major roads in the Peak District ahead of Storm Goretti's forecast high winds and heavy snow.
