Waste facility plan submitted for former RAF base
GooglePlans have been lodged to convert a former RAF base in Lincolnshire into a waste management facility.
The plans are for the vacant concrete runway at former RAF Strubby, between the villages of Woodthorpe and Withern near Alford.
The plans have been submitted to Lincolnshire County Council by MHD Construction Services Ltd and will be considered by planners.
Planning documents claim the new facility would provide the open storage, sorting, separation, screening, crushing and blending of construction waste.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the applicant has undertaken several assessments as part of the application, covering air quality, flood risk, noise impact and transport impact.
If approved, the facility could process up to 75,000 tonnes (7.5 million kg) of soil, soil substitute or aggregate such as concrete and bricks per year.
