An American man living in Leeds has been charged with terror offences following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East (CTPNE).

Jason Symons, of Swarcliffe, had been charged with nine counts of collecting a record of information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, a CTPNE spokesperson said.

The 33-year-old, who was arrested on 29 January, also faced two counts of dissemination of terrorist publications.

Symons, of Swarcliffe Avenue, was due to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, according to the CTPNE spokesperson.
