The Home Office confirmed four Brazilian men were arrested during the raid

An immigration raid at a large courier depot has resulted in the arrest of four men who were in the UK illegally, the Home Office has said.

The Brazilian men were held at the Evri Groups DHL eCommerce site on Colwell Drive in Abingdon on Tuesday.

It said the men had been over-stayers in the UK and were placed on strict conditions to report to the Home Office.

In a statement, the courier service said none of the men arrested had been Evri or DHL employees.

"We take our employment responsibilities very seriously and right to work checks are conducted on all our employees," an Evri spokesperson said.

"None of our colleagues were arrested or form part of any investigation following the visit."

A spokesperson for the Home Office added: "Illegal working undermines honest employers, undercuts local wages and fuels organised immigration crime.

"This government will not stand for it."
