Gareth Stark admitted the manslaughter of his baby son Leon Stark

A man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his three-month-old baby.

Gareth Stark's son Leon died in hospital on 20 October 2023, eight days after he was taken there when he became unwell.

Staffordshire Police later found Leon had suffered a significant head injury, which had been caused by his father.

Stark, 38, of Stafford, also admitted battery when he appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday and will be sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on 23 March.

Det Insp Lisa Holland described what happened as a "truly tragic case" and said officers would continue to work to protect children from harm.
